Continuing with our monthly Wellbeing Webinar Series, Sequoia partnered with Registered Dietitian and Nutrition Director, Samantha McCarthy, MS, RD, on March 15th to discuss: “How Nutrition Impacts Your Work Performance.”

Eating foods that boost and maintain energy levels is critical to maximizing productivity throughout the day. It can help in avoiding the dreaded afternoon crash while boosting cognitive function. Understanding nutrition fundamentals while finding brain boosting foods you enjoy and staying active are all keys to understanding how food impacts our energy.

You can catch up by viewing the recording and the presentation slides.

A few key takeaways from the webinar:

  • Make sure to eat a balanced meal or snack 2-3 times during the workday. Eating brain boosting meals and purposeful snacks will power you through your workday while keeping your mental clarity high.
  • Hydration can be a key to our energy levels. Make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day. When low on fluids, the body may feel tired and weaker than usual.
  • Being mindful to limit highly processed, low nutrient foods that are high in sugar, salt, and saturated fats is important in maintaining optimal brain and body function. When our sugar consumption increases, we often get a short burst of energy followed by an intense crash and then a craving for more sugar.
  • Samantha shared many snack and meal options with us that contain healthy fats, lots of protein, and complex carbohydrates that can improve cognitive function for maximum brain power! This will help power us through our workdays and give us those boosts of energy we need for our exercise and workout routines.

Registration for our next monthly webinar on “Planning for Your Financial Future” is now open. The webinar will take place on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at 10 am PT/1 pm ET. Registration is available at this link.
