The California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) has released a new free interactive app to assist California employees navigate job-protected leave to bond with a new child or for a pregnancy-related disability. While this free app is designed for employees, employers may find it beneficial to ensure that their current leave policies and practices are up to date and compliant with the California Family Rights Act (CFRA) and California Pregnancy Disability Leave (PDL). For more information about CFRA and its requirements please visit our blog post.
What Does the App Provide?
The app features an interactive series of yes or no questions that takes the user a few minutes to complete. At the end, the user is provided a customized report that summarizes the user’s eligibility for leave and the amount of leave to which the employee may be entitled. It also offers guidance on how the leave can be taken and provides links to additional resources.
